ORLANDO (Aug. 24, 2020) – During uncertain times like these, it is nice to have something familiar to count on. Repeat guests of Rosen Plaza’s award-winning Jack’s Place restaurant know they can always rely on an experience that is unwavering in consistency, impeccable quality and overall value… the latter never more true than during the tastiest time of year, Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining.
August 28 through Oct. 4, Jack’s Place will participate for its 15th year (since the program’s inception) presenting to guests a special prix fixe menu for an incredible $35 (plus tax and gratuity), with $1 donated to the non-profit Feed the Need Florida. The charity provides nutritious meals to those struggling with access to food during the current pandemic.
Executive Chef Michael McMullen and his creative team take great delight in besting each year’s offering and this year’s menu soars to new heights.
Guests relish a starting course with a choice of: Salt and Pepper Calamari featuring delightful fried calamari with banana peppers and peppadew sauce; Jack’s House Salad with poached pear, oregonzola cheese, dried cherries and candied pecans; Caesar Salad with fresh shaved parmigiano-reggiano; or Baked Onion Soup in an enticing crust of focaccia and three cheeses.
As a special treat for the second course, Chef Michael has included flavor-rich accompaniments with each tantalizing entree including a choice of: Grilled Petite Filet Mignon with mouthwatering au gratin potatoes and fresh market vegetables; Pan Seared Salmon with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, soy-maple gastrique and market vegetables; or Jack’s Garganelli Chicken Pasta tossed with roasted pulled chicken, capers, olives, tomatoes and a splash of cream. (The traditional pasta can be substituted with a gluten-free version, while a vegetarian option of the entire dish is available, too.)
Decadent Desserts are a restaurant signature and include your choice of three rich heavenly treats including the award-winning Jack’s Key Lime Pie, handmade from an authentic Florida recipe. A Chocolate Dome Brandied Chocolate Mousse is enveloped in a dark chocolate glaze as it sits majestically atop a generous base of moist chocolate cake. Or choose the interactive route and indulge in Manhattan’s “Little Italy” Affogato, where your server slowly pours a hot shot of Expresso, melting into a generous scoop of praline pecan smokey maple and bourbon ice cream.
Jack’s Place is named after owner Harris Rosen’s father, who sketched hundreds of celebrity caricatures that charm the restaurant’s walls. The artistic Jack was a safety engineer at the Waldorf Astoria in NY during its hey day from the ’30s to the ’50s and used the hotel’s visiting celebrities and dignitaries as his inspiration. The Hirschfeld-reminiscent art portrays history’s most revered icons from JFK to Jackie O, Andrew Wyeth, Frank Lloyd Wright, Jaques Cousteau, Babe Ruth, Picasso… even the Queen of England! Each signed Jack’s rendition of themselves, now preserved in this Sardi’s-like atmosphere not to be missed here in Orlando.
For the utmost safety for dining guests and associates, Jack’s Place is observing limited, socially-distanced seating, while associates provide a friendly smile behind every mask. With fewer available tables and just a few weeks to enjoy Magical Dining, reservations are strongly encouraged. Call 407-996-9700 to book now.
