ORLANDO, FL (November 13, 2024) – Harris Rosen, legendary hotelier and philanthropist, was awarded the prestigious 2024 Bruce Green Community Champion Award at the MAN UP Mentoring, Inc.’s Second Triennial Fundraising Gala. MAN UP Mentoring is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for at-risk youth through educational, mentoring and social services.
The annual Gala plays a crucial role in helping financially support the hiring of trauma-informed staff and funding essential programs for Central Florida’s youth. Each year, it recognizes an individual whose efforts have made a profound impact on the community, particularly among its young members.
Harris Rosen was celebrated for his work in the Tangelo Park and Parramore communities, where he established preschool programs for children ages 2, 3 and 4, alongside offering full college scholarships upon high school graduation. His initiatives have enabled hundreds of students to pursue higher education or vocational training at state institutions, covering tuition, room and board, and educational materials. Josh Rosen, Vice President of Operations at Rosen Hotels & Resorts, accepted the award on his father’s behalf.
“Thirty years ago, I recognized how blessed I was, and I wanted to do something to give back to the community. I didn’t know what, but it had to do something with young people,” said Harris Rosen, Founder and President of Rosen Hotels & Resorts. “That’s when the idea was born of helping an underserved community like Tangelo Park. I thought we could help get those children through school and hopefully to college.” Rosen added, “These preschool programs have proven incredibly successful. If others joined us, we would change America. One underserved community at a time.”
