ORLANDO (June 17, 2019) – In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo II Moon Landing, Jack’s Place restaurant at Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando invites space fans to “dine among the astronauts,” including the men who achieved this incredible feat, while enjoying special “out of this world” offers at the restaurant and hotel in July.

While the famed explorers can’t take a giant leap to be at Jack’s Place in-person, autographed caricatures of U.S. astronauts have been living on its walls since the restaurant opened more than 25 years ago, extending their legacy of providing inspiration for mankind. They are among hundreds of VIPs penned by Harris Rosen’s father, Jack, during his time as a safety engineer at the Waldorf Astoria New York. Working there from the 1930s to 60s during the tony hotel’s heyday as a celebrity magnet, Jack created a collection that is a veritable “who’s who” of the day’s politicians, actors, sports stars, international dignitaries and more. JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Winston Churchill, Babe Ruth, Salvador Dali, as well as the astronauts of Apollo 7, 8, 10 and 11, including Neil Armstrong, are among the collection, to namedrop a few.

Guests of Jack’s Place truly are treated to “dinner and an art show” when taking time to view the unrivaled collection. For a preview, visit JacksPlaceRestaurant.com.

To entice the one small step through its doors, Jack’s Place is celebrating with a buy one entree, get one at 50 percent off throughout the month of July. Guests purchasing a full-price entree also receive their choice of a complimentary Apollo 11 Lift Off hand-crafted cocktail or a luscious Dark Side of the Moon dessert, featuring a hot shot of Espresso poured delicately over Jack’s special Praline Pecan-Smokey Maple and Bourbon Ice Cream, one per table. Both also will be available for purchase.

To enhance the experience, guests may request to sit at a table directly beneath the astronaut caricatures. An especially good choice on July 20, the official moon landing date, when Jack’s Place will be celebrating with giveaways, space-themed music and more for its guests.

Rosen Plaza also is offering a special “Over the Moon” overnight stay package in July with rates starting at $119, plus tax, a night which includes a $50 food and beverage credit on the first night of the stay that can be used at Jack’s Place or at any of its seven dining outlets. Black-out dates and restrictions apply. For details, call 407-996-9700 or visit RosenPlaza.com.

Harris Rosen has fond memories of the space program, having spent some time in the mid-1960s helping manage the Hilton Cocoa Beach.

“Because our hotel was close to Cape Kennedy, I had the privilege of meeting several of the astronauts who periodically stayed with us,” said Rosen. “You can imagine my excitement years later when I rediscovered my Dad’s caricatures and found so many of the astronauts among his collection.”

Located in Orlando on International Drive, right off the Beachline offering a straight 50-minute drive to the Space Coast, Rosen Plaza is ideally suited for space fans looking for a luxury hotel to enjoy while in town for the celebrations at Cape Canaveral or for any leisure or business visit to Orlando. Overnight stay guests always enjoy complimentary in-room Wifi and resort-style amenities, with never a resort fee!
